Day 3/5 Mini Traverse Drakensberg, guiding by Gustav Greffrath
An early morning rise with bright sunshine made us want to catch up on time lost the previous day and go for it notwithstanding the long road awaiting us. We started the day with a soft climb up the escarpment, enjoying the views of the different peaks and every now and then a salute from farmers from Lesotho. After our ascent, we desecended slowly into a valley to follow a beautiful river guiding us to our next ascent. A slow, long ascent, but worth it as it brought us to our next amazing viewpoint of Cathedral Peak. As we still had some daylight time left, our guide pushed us on to reach the fixed camping spot. Luckily we did not know what was ahead as we had a huge ascent awaiting us! Though, steep, slowed down by our fatigue and a couple of snakes, we somehow made it to the top only to have to come back down in order to reach camp. The way down was long and tiring, but brought us to a good spot by a river where we were finally able to relax.
