Chouwen lake trail is part of the Jabal Moussa Biosphere Reserve standing on the river bank of Ibrahim River. When we reached Chouwen village we had to park and start the hike a couple of km away from the entrance of the reserve due to the tight road leading to it. As soon as we passed the entrance we headed directly to the lake through a clear path. The path was winding and constantly alternating between uphills and downhills. When we reached the bottom we saw the beautiful lake and the Ibrahim river that fed into it. The trail was 4 km long. We took the same trail back up.

(With our cars we visited Phoenician and Roman ruins in Ghineh. We saw the remains of a Roman temple as well as the rock of Adonis and Astarte. On the rock was carved a bas-relief depicting the legend of Adonis who was attacked by a great wild boar.)
