There are a few good overviews of Carvin Cove along the AT, a rarity in Virginia as there aren’t that many lakes. You can scramble onto Hay Rock for a final view of the hike. The trail also crosses some high voltage power lines that takes a little bit away from good views upon Daleville and Cloverdale.

Easy to follow
Scenery
Moderate
Looks dismal for first mile. After that it just gets better. Moderate climb to ridge, then great views to south, west, and north. One of the best in Roanoke area.
