near Bramhope, England (United Kingdom)
This is a linear tour from Bramhope to Harewood; Bramhope can be reached from Leeds with the X84 or X85 bus, while Harewood is on the route of the 36 between Harrogate and Leeds. Navigation is quite straightforward.
The tour begins at the old Bramhope Well and Pump and continues through alleyways and ginnels until the wood where the entrance/exit to the Bramhope railway tunnel is to be found. This is quite a sight of Victorian exuberance!
The public bridleway between Wood Top Farm and Black Hill Road is overgrown in places and quite muddy in others - best not to do this tour is it has been raining recently.
Bank Top Lane gives fine views over Arthington bank and on towards Arncliffe Crag.
Allums Lane and Bedlam Lane are both tarmaced but little used by cars. Eccup Lane is busier and there is 600 yards of road walking along it, before Ebor way and the Leeds Country way take you away from the road.
There are rhododendrons in Stub House Plantation, so I suppose May would be a good month for the tour.
At the end of the tour there is a pull-up from Eccup Beck through the grounds of Harewood House to Harrogate Road where the 36 can be caught.
