We leave on the right side of the main beach that is in front of the Blue Lake. We follow the marked route that passes through the Whakarewarewa Forest, with sequoias and huge ferns, and turn off to the right taking the path to Green Lake. It's a good track all the time, which starts with a moderate but continuous descent. We immediately see the lake, and we're going around, admiring the views. The most abundant presence of dairy herb plants (Digitalis purple and also Digitalis lanata), of very large size and in full bloom, would stand out. We reached a point where the track would be diverted from the outline of the lake, and we explore a couple of options to get rid of it. Not seeing it clear, because there is no path, we decide to go back to where we have come to the Blue Lake, which we now cross on the other side. We have to make a piece of asphalt road, which finally returns to the beach where we started.
The route is not difficult and it is very beautiful for the views of the lakes (with black swans) and the spectacular vegetation, very exotic for us. Remember that Green Lake is privately owned by Maori and is considered sacred, and therefore no activities can be carried out (bathing, etc.).
