The grand tour dayhike of the Big Pine Lakes basin. This route will take you to First and Second Falls, First through Fifth Big Pine Lakes, and Summit Lake. After Summit Lake, there is no official trail, so you end up boulder hopping back to the trail above Black Lake. Highly recommended hike!
First junction once you reach the Big Pine Lakes basin. Turn right to go to Black Lake, turn left to go to First Lake.
Fifth Lake overlook
The junction for the trail to Sam Mack Meadow. This is the trail to go see the Palisades Glacier.
The lower trail follows a sandy flat trail, the upper trail traverses the side of the mountain. Both end up in the same place.
Trail junction for the North and South fork of Big Pine Creek.
Second Big Pine Creek falls.
Second Lake overlook. Great camping spots here.

The view of Temple Crag from Second Lake is one of the most spectacular views in the whole of the Sierra. It's mind-blowing.
