The route that we propose is wide because it involves two parts. On the one hand the historical center of Bergen and on the other we ascend to one of the hills that surround it, Floyen and we made a journey through the lakes of the area in the style of hiking to which we are more accustomed.
Bergen is considered the gate of the "Kingdom of the Fjords", being the second city of Norway. It is surrounded by seven hills and was founded by the Viking King Olaf Kyrre in 1070.
We started the route in Thormohlens and from there we wandered a little to the building of the University of Bergen. The garden that surrounds it is botanical, that is to say, it presents a great variety of plants with its technical name and in Norwegian for those who know botany. From there we went to the small park Nygardsparken, simple and pleasant. We go down Stromgaten street to the Grieghallen auditorium, which is a center of culture, music and congresses. From there we approach the Lungegardsvann pond. On these dates it was adorned with plantations of yellow tulips. From there we go to the old pier and fish market. It is the most famous and visited outdoor market in Norway. In the very heart of the city, a wide variety of delicacies from the ocean are sold and you can also find local specialties such as cheese, sausage, fruit and vegetables. In the market itself there is a covered section where you can buy and eat fish according to your own choice and taste.
From there we reach the lower station of the funicular that will take us to the hill of Floyen where the bustling urban life contrasts with the calmness of the Atlantic forest. There we began our mountain route. First we walk through the recreational area located around the upper station and the restaurant and then go to Lake Skomakerdiket, which practically surround it in its entirety to reach the lake Store Tindevatnet larger. We ascended a steep slope and spectacular views to reach another lake called Stordiket. We went through an area of telecommunication broadcasting antennas and at this point we left the track to take a descent path through a trough and some steep slope to reach the lake levee, where we returned to take the tracks that lead us to descend to the neighborhood of Ladgarden, with Scandinavian style single-family homes. From there we descend to the Bergenhus neighborhood with the remains of a military enclave.
Finally, from there we reach the area of Bryggen, with its block of typical buildings, Unesco heritage. This part of the population saw the birth of Bregen and consists of an architectural ensemble of wooden houses with narrow streets. Here is also the Hanseatic Museum. It has suffered several fires, one of the most important was in 1.702. It has been rebuilt quite reliably and these buildings now house shops, restaurants, cafes, art galleries.
Directly opposite is the market square. In addition there is the tourist information center. There we finish our route.
