Arteni is a mountain with the height of 2047 m located in Gegharkunik province, Armenia.
Some information about this trail:
--- We started our ascent from Tatul ( Թաթուլ )village and hiked down close to Arevut village. If you don't like steep parts it's better to start your hike from Arevamut ( Արևամուտ ) and return there again.
--- When the sky is clear a fantastic view opens from Arteni summit: Ararat mountain and "Haykakan Par" ( Հայկական պար) mountain range ( translated as " Armenian Dance").
--- Best season for Arteni are May, June, July and wintertime, when the mountain is covered by snow (January, February).
--- BUT Arteni mountain has some steep rocky parts, so sometimes it's really difficult to find a way through the stones. This trail might be some helping tip but, anyway, here you'll be forced to ''search'' for the safest part in some places as we did.
--- We climbed it in winter but it's more difficult to climb the rocks in that period.
--- So climbing Arteni even with GPS is more for adventure lover-mountaineers, not for the people who are fond of smooth hiking.
About Arteni ( Արտենի):
--- This mountain is visible from Eastern Armenia's territory (nowadays Turkey) and over many years Armenians used to light fire on Ateni summit on the 24th of April in a memory of victims of Armenian Genocide.
--- Another reason to head to Tatul village for Armenians is that one of the Artsakh war heroes Tatul Krpeyan's ( Թաթուլ Կրպեյան ) grave and memorial is in Tatul village , which was named after him .
