This circuit was once considered one of the best treks in the world. though road construction is threatening its reputation and its future as a classic trek. Yet no one disputes that the scenery is outstanding: 17 to 21 days long, this trek takes you through distinct scenery of rivers, flora, fauna and above all - mountains. The trek goes counter-clockwise and reaches its summit in Thorung La (pass) at the height of 5416m, or 17,769 feet. The route goes past the following mountains: Manaslu (an 8,000-plus meter peak), Langtang Himal, Annapurna II and IV, Annapurna III and Gangapurna, and, of course, Annapurna I and Dhaulagiri -- passing through the world's deepest gorge in between those two 8,000-plus meter peaks. Poon Hill, at the end of the trek, affords views of those two mountains, as well as South Annapurna and Macchupucchre, the "Fishtail Mountain." The trek also goes through Buddhist villages and Hindu holy sites, most notably the village of Muktinath, a holy site for both Buddhists and Hindus (+info at wikitravel:

Hello Henry, yes you're right it usually takes around 3 weeks since the places along the trip are so interesting that you're continuously invited to stop and spend some time enjoying the place.

I didn't realize about the 16 hours, that doesn't make sense of course. It seems I cannot change the hours since in the forum I've been told that it is calculated from the GPS file, which makes sense. I'll contact the webmaster of wikiloc for help.

Many thanks for letting me know and thanks for sharing so many beautiful trails too

It's already fixed Henry. As I mentioned before, the timing depends on how you approach this adventure, 3 weeks is a good estimate

Hi CCguadalest, just have this track. It's quite detailed and you can download it by hitting the "Download" link right above the map. There are several people in Wikiloc that have shared many GPS tracklogs around the Annapurnas.

    Hope it helps!

Amazing! It is a pretty difficult trek, but totally worth it. I reccomend anyone doing this to be prepared, not just physcally but it is also important to know info about the trail, have proper equipment and be aware of altutide sickness symptoms.

I just came back from Nepal. we did the Annapurna Circuit, March 2015 (250 Km ). There was lot of snow, nearly a meter deep. Indeed, there was not possible to cross Thorung La (pass). We were very lucky to cross because there were some days of good weather, with a bit of coordination of the hikers, and the help of local people we opened the pass. It is a very nice hike, but be prepared with proper winter clothes if you think that there will be a chance for snow.

Amazing trail, best to be done around at the beginning of April when it's less crowded and prices are lower.
Pack light and you won't need a porter or guide.
