Tour through the Appalachian Trail (Appalachian Trail), passing through the state of Pennsylvania (United States), from south to north.

The stage corresponds to section 8 of this trail, in Pennsylvania, according to the official distribution made by the organizations that manage the Appalachian Trail, and begins at the Clark's Ferry Bridge, a bridge over the mighty Susquehanna River, very close to the town of Duncannon, 20 miles north of Harrisburg, the state capital.

After crossing the bridge, the AT begins a gradual and winding ascent towards the hill of Peters Mountain (1,273 feet), providing spectacular views along the entire route.

At a short distance you can see, in its magnitude, the very large course of the Susquehanna River, the longest of the entire American east coast, with mouths in the Chesapeake Bay, and that receives precisely in the town of Duncannon, the waters of its second main tributary, the Juniata River.

As we approach the hill of Peters Mountain, the panoramic views on one side and another of the mountain are multiplied, each more spectacular, and the usual sharp boulders that make up the crest of many of these are incorporated into the tour Pennsylvania mountains.

Already at the top, the path continues an almost linear layout, with few slopes, dotted with very rocky sections, which force you to walk between cliffs, with slopes on both sides of the mountain, as if the path ran along the edge of a gigantic knife formed by large rocks.

In other sections, the layout of the Appalachian Trail descends a few meters and continues along one slope or another, always near the top, bypassing small and large blocks of stone, remains of the intense glacial activity in the area, which constitute an unequivocal Characteristic of Pennsylvania, which is not in vain known to many hikers, as "Rockylvania".

On the tour we find two shelters: the Clarks Ferry Shelter, with capacity for eight users and latrine, and the Peters Mountain Shelter, spacious, modern and original shelter, with capacity for twenty people, with two heights and latrine, although the water supply It is a bit far (slope down, with 300 stone steps of descent and ascent).

Of the many viewpoints that this stage offers, to the north and south of the Peters Mountain hill, it is worth noting, the so-called Table Rock and Kinter View, both with clear views to the south (Clark's Valley and Third Mountain) , well marked with blue plates and markers.

Already in the final section, the AT descends from Peters Mountain, through a winding and gradual path, until reaching 325 / Clarks Valley Road, on the banks of Clarks Creek itself, where a spacious parking lot has been enabled.
