Hazard: Missing sleeper bridge over a deep but dry (today) ditch.
Park at Worlingworth Community Centre. Head north out of the car park and turn right, east, into Church Road, disused pub right, The Swan. Head east along Church Road for half a mile, then turn right, east, into Saint Mary, Worlingworth. Explore the church and leave by the eastern war memorial gate. Head north across the tarmac onto a footpath opposite the church gate. Follow this NW through a meadow with galvanised gates at the entrance and exit. Turn right, NW, onto tarmac for 60 metres. Bear left off the road and head NW across the open field steering 325°. At a hedgerow, continue ahead across an open field steering 340°. Ignore a footbridge left. Cross a footbridge ahead and continue NW, hedge left. Pass a pond, left, then continue NW. At a hedgerow, turn left, SW, and cross an open field for 100 metres. At a finger post, turn right, NW, across an open field and later, hedge right. Turn left, west, hedge left. Turn right, NW, hedge left. Turn right, NE, onto tarmac. After 80 metres, turn left, NW, passing apple trees, then hedge left. Follow the white capped posts, then turn left, SW, hedge right. Turn right, cross the ditch, head NW to the field corner, then left, SW, hedge right. Turn right across a footbridge. Head north, hedge left. Pass two ponds and continue north, hedge left. Cross a footbridge and turn left, west, onto tarmac for 145 metres.
Before a tarmac T junction, turn right, north, over a ditch, hedge left. Ignore a footpath, right, and continue NW, hedge left. Emerge at Saint Peter, Athelington. Optionally explore the church, then head NW on tarmac. Turn left, west, to Athelington Hall and Farm Lodges. Ignore a footpath, right, and continue west. After the last cabin, turn left, south, barns right, Continue south on decaying tarmac, hedge right. Keep right, hedge right, towards a house. Ignore the arrow left. Near the house turn right then kink right and left over a sleeper bridge. Head west of south, ditch left. Cross the footbridge and turn left through the gap. Head SE across the open field 154°. At the far side, turn right, SW, ditch left.
Turn right, SW, onto tarmac. After Greenway Farm, at the end of the hedge, turn left, SE, and cross the open field. Steer 158°. Cross the footbridge and turn left, SE, fence right. The path soon bends right, south. Turn right, over a footbridge and head SW, hedge right. At the field corner, turn left, roughly south, hedge right. Ignore a bridge right and continue roughly south, ditch right. Turn right across a footbridge and head SW across an open field. Turn left, south, hedge right. Turn right, west, onto tarmac. Optionally pause at the pond where there is a useful park bench.
After the tarmac T junction, turn left, SE, onto a footpath. Head SE along a tree-lined path, barn right. Continue SE, hedge right. At a finger post and oak tree, turn right, SW, and cross the open field, later hedge right. At the field corner look for a place to cross the ditch with the missing sleeper bridge. Head 40 metres SE to a solitary oak tree. Then turn right, SW, across the open field, 230°. Near farm buildings, turn left, SE, moat right. Continue SE, ditch and hedge right along a wide farm track. Continue SE across an open field, 132°. Continue SE on a wider track that bends right, south, near houses. Turn left, a little north of east, hedge right aiming for the house and pole-top transformer. Cross the open field a little north of east steering 75°. After the field, continue on this bearing, hedge or fence right all the way to the road. Turn left, NE, onto tarmac, then right, NE, along Tannington Road. At a right bend and dog poo bin, turn left, roughly north, off the tarmac. Cross the open field and later follow the field perimeter, hedge right, NW. Turn left, west, then right, north across a footbridge. Turn right, east, and finally left, north, across the open field. Cross the sleeper bridge, then right, east, into Worlingworth. Turn right, south, to return to the Community Centre.
