Tour through sections 10.2 and 9 of the Appalachian Trail ( Appalachian Trail ), passing through the state of Massachusetts (United States), from south to north. From mile AT 1513.0, which is The Hemlocks Shelter, to mile AT 1521.0, at the point where the AT crosses US-7, in the vicinity of Great Barrington, MA. Distances always measured from Springer, Georgia.

The stage is short, and does not present many difficulties, with the only exception of the descent from Jug End, which is steep, stony, and very slippery at times of the year with rain, ice or snow, or as is the case, in the weeks after the fall of the leaves. The base of rock, together with a layer of pine litter that is deposited throughout the year, and on it the dried oak leaves and other deciduous trees, make the descent much more difficult than it should be, because of the constant slips.

The Jug End Mountain (1750 pìes) is located at the northern end of the Mt. Everett mountain range, in the Taconics. The stage runs in its first part by the crest of that mountain massif, until reaching its end, with great views along its route.

After the wild and pronounced descent of the Jug End, the trail crosses areas of cultivated fields and farms, and enters into small forests reforested mainly with fir and other conifers.

On the way, the AT passes next to the Shays' Rebelion Monument, which commemorates the place where the confrontation of the 1787 revolt took place, caused mainly by the post-war crisis that gave rise to very tough fiscal policies, to face to the State debt.
