near Ilfracombe, England (United Kingdom)
Lovely route taking the Taka Trail (Route 27) from Ilfracombe to Okehampton. The route carries on down to Plymouth. Okehampton is the half way point.
Most of the route follows an old railway track and is away from traffic, but there are some road sections.
The hardest hills are at the beginning and the end, but a lot of the track is relatively flat.
We averaged about 10 mph, so more experienced will cover this quicker, but some will struggle on the hills.
There are some stops at old railway stations along the way for food and drinks, though service at Puffing Billy was slow so to be avoided if speed is what you are after. I would recommend the deli in Instow for a good selection of food/fuel to give you a boost
