| Very beautiful stage although the sky went covering until we fell a good shower. We left Tabo after visiting his monastery, which is the oldest of all Buddhist monasteries in India and one of the oldest in the world, just over 1,000 years ago. It has many very well preserved frescoes and is an important place for Buddhist pilgrimage. It is noted that we are at the heart of the Spiti Valley, because the Buddhist influence is felt everywhere, in the people, the houses and the humble religious constructions we continuously encounter on the way, such as prayer flags, chortens, stupes or the hands (pebbles piled up with recorded Buddhist prayers). More or less this stage is track and asphalt in equal parts. First we find cramped sections and finally the Spiti River Valley opens dramatically. In general, the route goes smoothly up to Kaza, the capital of the valley, which is more than 3,600 meters high, although we should not expect to find large infrastructures, because it is still a humble rural village.
