The first 3 kilometers take you across a frozen glacial lake, nice and flat, to get the engine running. You will gradually start to climb after reaching the lake's eastern shore. Nothing serious though: roughly some 50 vertical meters. After that, you will find yourself on a rather peculiar highland plain. The area is littered with little hillocks. A so-called dead ice landscape: rubble that melted out of the Scandinavian Ice Sheet when it withered away some 10000 years ago. You have a few km to enjoy this amazing testament to the forces of mother nature before you start to descend. Be warned: do use skins or even walk when you're not comfortable down-slope on your cross-country skis. The last stretch seems to last endlessly, crossing a wooded fluvial valley.
